Global Satellite Carrier Monitoring System is an automatic satellite carrier monitoring system designed to monitor satellite UPLINK and DOWNLINK traffic. GSCM is designed to accommodate applications that necessitate multiple monitoring sites, usually on opposite sides of an ocean. The distributed architecture allows monitoring of remote locations from a Network Operations Center (NOC) using communications networks as narrow as 64Kbps. Using advanced Digital Signal Processing techniques, GSCM is able to find and display interfering carriers, even when there is a carrier-under carrier condition. In addition, GSCM is capable of providing distinctive carrier characteristics to assist the operator in determining the source of an interfering signal. The automatic monitoring feature provides unattended monitoring of carriers and noise slots while the operator is free to attend to other activities.

These operator initiated Monitoring Plans that will test each carrier in the plan and automatically set the RF Switch, DSP, spectrum analyzer and antenna position settings for the correct value. If an abnormal carrier is detected, the system will alert the operator and store the measurement traces along with the measurement results. Stored data and traces can be played back over any period of time. GSCM has advanced features using a DSP subsystem. The DSP subsystem is typically ten times faster then a Spectrum Analyzer plus provides a carrier under carrier display and following information:

		IQ and constellation display
		Modulation type recognition
		Symbol rate determination
		10 measurements sets per second
		Eb/No of modulated signal
